Description

1st Century AD Roman Pavement, discovered 1902 (this is a mistake. It should read 1906 & 1920), part of a complex of houses. Four panels of plain red tessera (approximately 1" square), each of a different size and at a slightly different level. Bounded by modern York stone slabs. The whole measures approximately 14 yards by 7 yards. Listed grade II.<1>
