Description

Two boreholes were sunk on the site of a proposed quay wall at the Hythe, Colchester. Light cable percussion techniques were employed together with 150 mm temporary casing. The boreholes revealed made ground resting on alluvial deposits which were underlain by sand and gravel. This in turn overlay what was thought to be the London Clay. Groundwater was recorded at a standing level of 3.4 and 3.9 m A.O.D.<1>
