Description
A total of 23 trial pits were excavated on a proposed development site along Cowdray Avenue (part of the Cowdray Centre). The contents of the trial pits were highly variable but generally revealed a clayey soil fill overlying sand and silt or clay with organic matter. This was underlain by sandy silts over sand and gravel. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.<1>
