Description

Three boreholes were drilled using conventional shell and augur methods as part of the site investigations for land off Maldon Road which was due for redevelopment. A trial pit was excavated by hand before each borehole to ascertain the position of any services. The ground conditions revealed by the three boreholes were broadly similar, comprising variable depths of made ground overlying sand and gravel. Borehole 2 penetrated this layer to record a silty clay (London Clay). <1>
