Description

A total of forty boreholes were excavated ahead of the proposed construction of Colchester's Southern outfall sewer. The boring records revealed that buried strata generally consists of gravel and sand which overlay London Clay in the Old Heath and Mersea Road areas. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered although several boreholes revealed made ground. <1>
