Description
Three trial holes were excavated on an area of land east of Ipswich Road, which was due for redevelopment. Each trial hole revealed apparently different soil conditions varying from clay to sand. The surveyor felt that this was typical of the variable nature of glacial drift material encountered in the ground to the north of the town. See ECC2140 for later trial holes on the same site. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.<1>
