Description
Five trial holes were excavated as an investigation of the buried strata on the site of a proposed housing scheme. Excavation of the trial pits indicated no set pattern of soil formation but the predominant soil type presented was a fine, soft sand beneath the topsoil. This sand overlay more compacted sands and gravel. Trial hole 5 revealed this compacted sand and gravel overlying a stiff clay. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.<1>
