Description
Five trial holes were dug in the gardens of The Cannons, Layer Road, Colchester as part of a soil survey instigated to determine the suitability of the land for a proposed housing scheme. Each of the holes revealed clayey sand/gravel at approximately 1m depth. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.<1>
