Description

Three trial holes were excavated to determine the suitability of a site at South Street and St John's for development. The two holes and South Street revealed a sandy loam top soil with sand beneath at a depth of between 1.5 m and 2.0 m. At St John's the trial hole revealed recent clay fill material apparently dumped on the site following the construction of the Southway road. Two metres beneath this was a concrete slab. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.<1>
