Description

A soil survey was undertaken to establish the soil conditions on the proposed housing site off Golden Noble Hill, Colchester. Within the four trial holes excavated the soil structure consisted of topsoil to a depth of between 0.8m and 1.2 m overlying damp sand. In trial holes 1 and 3 a narrow seam of gravely sand was encountered at a depth of approximately 2.1m. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.<1>
