Description
An evaluation was undertaken at 6/7 Church Walk prior to redevelopment of the site. The trenches were located on the line of the Roman town wall. Two trenches were excavated to a maximum depth of 2m, then probed by augur for a further 1m. Neither trench produced evidence of intact masonry and it would seem that the wall (or at least a substantial part of it) had been removed at some stage.<1>
