Watching brief at 5 Highfield Drive during construction of rear extension. No archaeologically significant features were noted in 50cm wide by 1.2m deep wall foundation trenches for a 6.5m by 4m extension at the rear (north side) of the house. The observation, however, was incomplete and is based on a morning visit when the east part of the north trench was open for inspection. When visited again in the afternoon the remaining trenches were found to have been dug out and concreted, in spite of an earlier assurance from the contractor that there was to be no concreting that day. <1>
