A watching brief was undertaken during the replacement of an old drain line at 18 Beverley Road. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded. The trench was 700mm deep near the house and 300mm deep at the road edge, stratigraphy at the deeper end was 650mm of very dark grey topsoil with occasional brick fragment. Everywhere in trench it is broadly the same proportion of topsoil/ subsoil, i.e. about 300mm topsoil to 50mm of exposed natural at road edge. Natural is gravely sand.<1>
