Description
During the Culver Street excavation 1981-1982 & 1984-5 various environmental sampling was undertaken, a wide variety of macro and micro fossils survived: foraminiferans, land and marine mollusc shells, barnacles, crabs, mineralised arthropods, bones of fish, amphibians, birds and mammals, avian eggshell, faecal concretions and coprolites containing parasite eggs and phytoliths, and carbonised and mineralised plant macrofossils comprising cereals, fruit stones, nutshells, seeds, wood and charcoal.
