Description

A near complete c.2nd century two-handled pot containing cremated bone was recovered by contractors engaged in underpinning the front of a bungalow. Other finds included a pot lid, believed to have been found in association with the vessel in a trench under the east corner of the bungalow. Although the site conditions restricted close trench inspection, the find spot appeared to lie close to natural sand, beneath a total of 1.5m of post Roman accumulation and modern make up. Unstratified finds from a trench situated 3m to the south included a grey ware rim, fragment of Roman brick and a small fragment of bone.<1>
