Description
A watching brief was undertaken during construction works for an external lift and new public stairway linking Lion Walk to Vineyard Street. The foundation works involved excavation of large trenches located immediately in front of the monument in the area between the former site of Bastion 8 (removed when the wall was breached in the 1970's) and the western end of the car park.<1>
