Description

A watching brief was maintained during the demolition of No's 12, 13, 14,15, 18 and 20 Pelham's Lane on the north side of Trinity Square. These buildings had extensive cellars covering the whole of the area except for the south west corner. Most of the cellars were dug more than 1m into the natural sand. Where stratigraphy survived in the south west corner it appeared to included dark earth sealing military and flavian deposits with no major features.<1>
