Description
A watching brief held during phase 2 of the Oaks Drive development recorded Roman inhumations, a lead coffin lining and a pit or ditch. Most of the site appeared to have been stripped of its Roman and later layers and was covered with a dump of dark brown 'topsoil' which overlay the natural sand. The foreman reported a patch of reddish burnt clay which he thought could have been a kiln.<1><2>
