Description

Bronze spearhead Type V, 4" long with thick central spine wings and pierced socket- was found in a field about 400 yards SE of Prettygate Farm, in 1934.<1> Found in a field north of pond chase, Shrub End, now All Saints Avenue, given to the museum by Brigadier General Sir Henry Freeland.<2> According to Rex Hull the find may have been recovered during the construction of a housing estate on the site in 1934 (OS card notes that site is recorded on a map in the museum - '25" field sheet 37', TL97452365 as approx location) <1><4>
