Description
A watching brief was held during the erection of a small building at No's 3-6 West Stockwell Street. All the ground cut by the excavation trench was apparently backfilled cellar which consisted of soil, much white mortar and fragments of brick. The cellar wall was of brick. The sand cutting the cellar was very clean and therefore seemed natural but was close to the present surface.<1>
