A watching brief was held during the installation of a new sewer system throughout much of Lexden. "Observation of the trenches was negative apart from one small pit or ditch seen in section opposite the drive of No. 22 St Clare Road. Although no finds were recovered from it the fill had the appearance of that of a prehistoric or (less likely) Roman feature."<1>
