Description

A watching brief was maintained during the redevelopment of No. 65 High Street. Practically all the site was destroyed because of cellars but a metre-wide strip of stratigraphy survived between the northern cellar and High Street frontage. This contained a north-south Roman drain and two human skeletons. In addition there were two wells and a fragment of foundation, probably Roman in date.<1>
