Description

During the winter of 1968-9 the site of Sainsbury's supermarket in Culver Street was developed. Although it was not possible to conduct excavations on the site, the work, which consisted of the excavation of 31 stanchion holes, was carefully watched. The holes revealed a phase of Boudican destruction followed by the existence of a massive masonry structure.<1>
