Description
GREAT HORKESLEY CHURCH STREET 1. 5214 Ridgnall TL 93 SE 3/41 II GV 2. C16 house. Timber framed and of 2 storeys comprising a T-plan. It is uncertain whether both ranges are of the same age. The east-west range is heavily renovated but has plastered wall and pegtiled roof, ridged and gabled with one south facing small gable. The windows of the south front are pairs of small-paned hornless sashes, where remaining with one pair of round headed ones central to the range and placed at stairs height. Large bay at east end of south front on ground floor. Three red brick chimney stacks. The stem of the T is a 2 bay range having rollmoulded joists, heavily jowled posts and halved scarfs with bridled butts. (RCHM 17).
