Description

ALDHAM NEW ROAD 1. 5214 Old Bouchiers Hall TL 92 NW 7/47 II 2. C16 house on returned L-plan shown as such on an estate map of the C17. The north-east range in red brick, now painted, laid in mixed English/Flemish bond. Tall gambrel roof hipped at east end gabled at west with bold modillion cornice at the eaves. Projecting string at first floor with range of 4 pairs of 8 pane hornless sash windows above and 3 matching windows beneath with front door of circa 1800 in wide wooden case. The south-west ranges are of later brick in Flemish bond with ridged and hipped roofs peg-tiled. Range of 4 sashes with margin bars and no panes, also 4 on ground storey under brick arches. Inside a good fire surround in wood and gesso with lion masks and egg and tongue and festoons. Low panelling and bolection chair rail, Some studded walling may indicate an entirely timber framed building of an earlier date. (RCHM 4). Listing NGR: TL9153026413
