Description
ALDHAM FORD STREET 1. 5214 The Bridge House TL 92 NW 7/63 II GV 2. C17 house embodying earlier timber framing. One double range forming an L-plan by junction with a single range aligned roughly east-west of 2 storeys throughout. The front range has red brick casing with pilastered returns dated: 'MAB 1847', with range of 5 windows on first storey and horned 2 pane sashes on ground storey with stucco heads - keystoned - and sills. Front door in wide wooden case with 2 flattened columns and flat leaded hood, in fielded returns. Roof ridged and gabled, pegtiled with 3 course brick eaves cornice, 2 red brick chimney stacks in rear slope. Inside on the first floor much pine panelling, ceiling cornices and chair rails all circa 1700. The front range has a C16 timber east wall that was raised 3 feet in the early C17.
