1. CASTLE PARK 995 ----------- Roman Wall 65 yds north- north-west of the Castle TL 9925 SE 5/536

2. C1 or later. 2 fragments of the northern boundary of the temple enclosure, there are extensive remains beneath the Norman ramparts. Discovered during the landscaping of the park in 1892 when a path was run through the wall. The fragment to the west of the path measures 2 ft by 3 ft by 2 ft, that on the east 10 ft by 3 ft by 3½ ft. Both are of stone and capped with modern concrete slabs. (RCHM 35).
