Description
The quay (the waterfront) forms the southern boundary of the town stretching from the present day Smugglers Wharf in the west the The Folly in the east. The quay is recorded as SMR 19782 in the Essex Historic Environment Records. In the post-medieval period Wivenhoe served an entrepot for Colchester. There would have been buildings connected with warehousing, fishing and boat building.
