Description

The Lych Gate, located at the north-east corner of the churchyard, and at the corner of The Street and Brook Road, apparently dates from the 20th century. It is within the curtilage of the Church of St Barnabas, which is Grade I Listed (NHLE no. 1223408). Timber frame on red brick plinth and with tiled roof. Dedicated in memory to the fallen of WWI. The gate was adopted onto the Local List by the Local Plan Committee on 24/08/20. It is a good example of a Lych Gate and it is important to the history of Great Tey.
