Description
DEDHAM HIGH STREET 1. 5214 (north side) Gould House TM 0533 26/44 23.6.52 II* GV 2. C18 house. Three storeys and 5 window range, with stone coped parapet to Flemish bonded painted brick front. Central door above 6 stone steps with Doric columns and pediment with triglyph and patera - mutules on pediment. Two modernised sash windows either side, 5 with one glazing bar on first storey, central Diocletian on second storey with small-paned sash either side. contemporary RWH on east end. Cellars under. Inside: good contemporary panelling of circa 1740, of softwood, with fire surrounds having both classical key pattern and Gothic motifs. Curved stairs with bracketted tread-ends and hardwood rail. Key-patterned ceiling cornices of pine in both front rooms of ground storey.
