GREAT HORKESLEY THE CAUSEWAY 1. 5214 Woodlands TL 93 SE 3/52 II 2. C14 house. Formerly aisled hall on H-plan with jettied crosswings and exposed timber frame. Cusped vergeboards on west front and hollow moulded tie beam at south-west gable. Existing windows modern casements, one over one in each crosswing. North wing C14 with splayed scarfs and chamfered crown-post with straight braces. This wing of 3 bays with evidence for an original floor at attic level. Binding-joist with three-quarter circle hollow mouldings. Tripartite window at west with ovolo mullions. South wing of circa 1400. One gabled dormer on west slope of hall, which laterally divided circa 1500. Gabled end wings, roofs pegtiled. Red brick chimney stack central to hall roof and 2 others flanking north and south of each wing. (RCHM 5). Listing NGR: TL9782830513
