Full Description

During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), a Roman building (CAT Building 119) was discovered situated in the south-east corner of Insula 34.
The building consisted of only one room measuring 4.2 x 3.6m internally. All but the south wall coincided with walls of the succeeding building (MCC918), 'indicating that Building 119 may have been an earlier phase of that building'.
The primary floor was of sandy clay which had three ovens sunk into it.<1>
