Full Description

During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), a Roman building (CAT Building 111) situated on the south side of Insula 26, north of the street (MCC812) and west of the former via principalis (MCC760), was examined. The front wall of the building was of septaria set in mortar on a foundation of septaria, tile and fragments of mortar, all probably derived from the demolition of an earlier building. Only part of a single room with a tessellated floor was available for excavation.<1>
