Full Description

During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), a Roman timber-framed building (CAT Building 99) was discovered situated to the west of the former via principalis (MCC760) and on the north side of an east-west street (MCC733).

The frontage of the building was represented by a row of post-pits and a slot. Against the outside of the frontage wall was a deep pit. There was no good evidence for a covered way or veranda between the street (MCC733) and the building as there had been prior to the Boudican revolt (see MCC789).<1>
