Full Description

16th century Inn, largely rebuilt in 18th century.

D of E survey. C18 features timber framed and plastered. Two storey and attics, the roofs tiled, restored. Three window range, 2 bay windows at east end of the front. <1>

Property deeds exist dated 1542 to 1547, which mention the Sun Ale house.<2>

'In the 18th century, following the turnpiking of Lexden Street, new houses were built there (Lexden) including the Sun public house'.<3>
