17th century house, the southern part of which has been demolished since the 1922 survey.

RCHME survey of 25 & 26 Trinity Street. 17th century house 'has a cross wing at the North end. The upper storey projects at the W end of the cross wing' <1>

DOE survey of No 26 Trinity Street. Grade II. C17 small building with upper storey projecting on the front. The north part of a group of buildings now demolished. Two storeys and attics, the roofs tiled.<2>

A watching brief was held during groundwork at No. 26 Trinity Street including a trench in the south-east corner of the backyard. The trench was excavated to a depth of 1.7 m and revealed the gravel metalling of a Roman road. Two distinct layers were revealed sealed by a 1 m thick layer of black soil. This was cut by post-Roman pits. The top of an arched cellar was also removed and the ground reduced by 0.3-0.5 m.<3>
