Full Description

During the excavation of a pipe trench in Castle Park (ECC375), 1983, a large pit was recorded. The pit was approximately 3.4m wide and 1.5m deep with heavily burnt edges. 'This was probably the remains of a medieval lime kiln'. A small associated pit was situated to the south (see MCC1303).<1>
