Full Description

A house of 17th century date (now demolished).<1>

A watching brief was maintained during redevelopment on the site of Last's garage, Middleborough, in the vicinity of No 10 (but covering a much larger area). The deeper trenches on the site were recorded and revealed a series of gravel street surfaces. Dark earth ran beneath the lowest recorded surface. To the east of the road surface was a post-medieval frontage wall foundation. A possible second property was noted further to the south. Behind the frontage was a daub floor. From the sketch plan is does not look like the above comments refer to No 10 but the sketch map is incomplete.<2>
