Full Description

During excavations at 11 Magdalen Street in 1974, some stake holes, a number of small pits and a patch of charcoal were defined, sealed by the sandy clay floor of the later house (MCC1246). The features were cut into the top of the sunken street (MCC1244) but may have been an early phase of MCC1246 rather than pre-dating it. A group of pits were later dug on the site in c.1700. These may have held posts and been associated with MCC1246 but their context is unclear.<1>
