Full Description

During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), evidence for a Roman drain was discovered along the south side of an east - west street (MCC733) along the north side of Insula 35. Evidence of the drain consisted of a substantial trench which probably held at least one timber drain. The base of the trench at its east end split into two channels as if it resulted from two successive drains.<1>
