Description

DOE survey of Employment Exchange, East Stockwell Street. Formerly Stockwell House. Grade II*. Good C17 building with fine early C18 red brick front. Two storeys and attics, cellars, timber framed, and plastered, the roofs tiled. The front has a brick eaves cornice, 6 window range of double hung sashes with glazing bars in cased frames, flat rubbed brick arches. Band. Central door case with pediment head, scroll brackets, shouldered architrave and 6 panel door. On the north side is an oriel bay upper window with a Venetian attic window above. C17 interior features- staircase and ceiling beam <1>
