Description

A watching brief was maintained during re-surfacing of the pavement and road of Maidenburgh Street in 1984. Remains recorded included the foundations of the Roman theatre (MON835) which lay just below the surface and the north-south foundation discovered in 1891 (ECC193) together with part of another foundation. A narrow north-south foundation lay near the west pavement well south of the auditorium which lined up with a stump of north-south wall found in 1982 (see ELM762 ).<1>
